Cracking Concealing

Saturday, August 27, 2016

True story, I didn't start wearing concealer until, like, last year. I just went along in life with primer and foundation keeping my face together. Concealer was just another area of makeup that I hadn't explored. I first purchased the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer...and I forgot about it. Mostly because I was clueless about to blend it in and make everything look smooth. So I continued on in my concealer-less world and my spots and discoloration were probably more noticeable than they are now. But at last, after all this time, I think I have it figured out. I mean, at least I have one thing figured out at twenty two years old.

I found that the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer works like a dream for me now. A lot of people I follow claim that it duplicates your skin tone and makes everything look like one. So no messy batches where it's evident that I've done a bit of concealing. For a while, I really wasn't impressed with the concealer because I felt like I could still see my spots. But I finally changed up my way of concealing and now it's perfected.

So I wear the concealer in Light Neutral and before I put it on, I first swatch the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach all over where I want to conceal. The peach shade is made for masking circles and spots, so it's perfect for me and my pesky spots. After I put that all over my face and look like some bizarre monster, I layer my concealer right over the corrector. Then the fun part is done by my Real Techniques sponge, I usually use the edge of the flat side and work it into my skin until everything seems hidden by the concealer.

Recently I finally got the infamous Collection Lasting Perfection concealer from a friend who spent her spring semester abroad in England. This concealer is all the rage over there and well loved by multiple bloggers, especially my favorite, Zoella. I have the shade Warm Medium and so far I'm really liking it. It does a great job of covering things up and staying in place.

For a bit of under eye highlighting and making things not look so dark, since we all know I don't go to bed early by any means, I like to grab my trusty YSL Touche Eclat pen in shade 1, but I sort of think it's too light for my skin tone so I'll maybe change things up when I finally repurchase it. Another goodie from England that's in my collection now is from Rimmel. It's the Wake Me Up concealer in True Ivory and it's great for brightening things up where your skin's gotten a bit dark or dull. I really haven't used it much yet since I haven't been wearing much makeup but I'll keep you posted my thoughts.

In the mean time while I have my trust Urban Decay at hand, I'll be fantasizing about a life where I don't have to wear concealer because my skin is flawless. I'm looking at you uninvited spots that have taken up real estate on my face, thanks, yeah.
