Thoughts on Sleeping Masks

Friday, July 6, 2018

Between cracking out my dry humor regularly, hitting up Starbucks every day, and my two jobs, I do find time to pop a face mask on and scroll through Instagram. Sometimes though, I get tired but I still want to mask. What’s a girl to do?

Answer? A sleeping mask. It remains one of those objects where customers still scratch their heads when I mention it because they can’t wrap their minds around the concept. Yes, it’s a mask you can wear to sleep. They’re usually pillow proof too, so no mask goop will end up all over your precious pillow(s).

They’re a great concept for those who have busy lives, may not have the time, or need quick fixes overnight. Here are just a few faves of mine…

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow

Ah, Glow Recipe appears on this blog yet again. Like their moisturizer, they have a pink, watermelon scented sleeping mask that exfoliates and hydrates overnight. You wake up in the morning with smoother, glowing skin that makes you look like you got an ample 8 hours of sleep.

It feels like a silky gel that glides onto your face before it hits the pillow. Soothing watermelon (filled with antioxidants!!), hydrating hyaluronic acid, and AHAs (Lactic and Glycolic) help get that radiance everyone wants overnight. I love this because it’s so easy to use, makes my skin feel great, and my mom calls it her “watermelon spa.”

There’s also a mini size in case you don’t want to commit to the big mama yet....or if you’re eyeing the moisturizer too...yep, there’s a set for that.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

[TV salesperson voice] Tired? Overworked? Look like you’ve been hit by a bus? Have no fear, Laneige is here! The calming blue of this hydrating and restoring mask is enriched with Hydro Ionized Mineral Water (Laneige’s trademark ingredient) to help get skin back on track. It’s the best for those nights where a full 8 hours isn’t in the cards but you still want to look alive the next day.

There’s also an underlying blend of orange flower, rose, and sandalwood to help calm you down before you finally hit the pillow (and put your phone away).

This mask is also super affordable for a full size at only $25. Laneige is one of those fabulously affordable brands that I’m all about.

Korres Wild Rose & Vitamin C Sleeping Facial

This mask, nay sleeping facial, because it sounds that much more high brow, just got a makeover consistency wise. It has more of a light creamy texture now but still promises a more glowing and even tone by morning. It really does brighten and hydrate with Rose Oil and Vitamin C, backed up by hydrating superhero Hyaluronic Acid.

Every time I’ve used this, I’ve been blown away by how much better my skin looks. Korres is just an all around fab and natural brand that utilizes popular ingredients like Vitamin C and underrated ones like Greek Yogurt. I love this sleeping facial the most but everything else gets a 5/5 from me.

Dr. Jart Water Fuse Hydro Sleep Mask

Dr. Jart has so many hero products on the market right now but the Water Fuse trio is the best for recharging the skin with hydration and minerals your body already makes. There’s an eye cream that’s great for circulation (bye, bye puffiness) and a moisturizer that’s great for lackluster skin in need of some help. But the sleeping mask is the booster for skin for more hydration and there’s even a bit of pore clearing in this bottle.

If you’ve had one too many the night before, did a lot of travelling, or just in need of some skin help, this is the one for you. It’ll deliver more hydrated, restored, and clearer skin by morning. I have a customer on this one and he’s raved about its results to me before. You’re welcome.

Sleeping masks are the easiest, lazy person way to get results while also masking. You don’t have to worry about leaving on too long because you’re going to bed! Just make sure you wash it off in the morning!
