Sephora Haul

Saturday, March 26, 2016

For months I've been waiting for our Sephora store to open downtown right in the middle of King St. Sephora is such a big deal to me that I was one of the first people my friends thought of when they heard themselves. If that doesn't say something about me and who I am then I don't know what does. Even after being in another Sephora just days before, I was absolutely thrilled to walk into the new one the day after it opened its doors. Along with perusing the aisles and sections, I picked up some bits that were finally at my fingertips...and then I did it again.

My visit was cut short the first time since dinner was more important but I spent enough time to learn where NARS, Anastasia, and Hourglass all live and turn my hand into a palette of colors to rival Van Gogh's painters palette. Except mine was more of shimmery brown tones. Before I get to the good stuff that I picked up, I just have to say how beautiful this Sephora is and how they have everything that I could ever possibly want. Except for Burberry, but maybe that's a good thing. The store is so big and open, the lighting is a dream making me feel like I could pull off any color.

I finally picked up the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette, because I needed more shimmery brown options in my life. Expect a proper blogpost soon because I can't wait to share that one. Hourglass was full of temptation and since I couldn't find something I was really looking for, I picked up one of their new Strobe Lighting Powders, which are like lighter highlighters to bring light and dimension to the face. Mine is in the shade Euphoric after reading it on another blog and the temptation didn't take long to convince me.

I also picked up one of the Sephora brushes since I didn't have a proper powder brush. So I grabbed #59 which is the Pro Precision Powder brush and I like to use this to dust my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders across my face. Lastly, since I was being forced to leave, I grabbed an eyeshadow from NARS in Ashes to Ashes. This was probably a good thing since I would have probably helped the staff close the store if I stayed any longer. Anyways, Ashes to Ashes is a lovely shimmery taupe color that reminds me of MAC Patina if it had a gray cousin. The golden shimmer is still there but in a darker way.

So I left the store with my first purchases from my local store and I already planned on returning again soon to pick up a few more things. And I did on Wednesday, marking my second trip within a week. This time I tested out some Kat Von D Everlasting Lipsticks and ended up with the last tube of Lolita II. I know, I'm just as stunned as you. Hannah picked up a lipstick? Who? How? What? Calm down, I still am surprised at myself. These lipsticks really earn the hype around them since my hand was covered in them and they just did not want to come off.

Since Sephora is so into the color correcting thing currently, my interest was peaked as well especially after noticing how dark my under eye area can get and concealer just wasn't cutting it. After going back and forth between a few colored concealers, I settled on Urban Decay's Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach to mask dark circles and spots. I'll speak more on this in a concealer post again, coming soon.

So I accumulated these things over time and because I haven't really gone all out at Sephora in a long time and they've been sitting on my list and starring me in the face. Before these two trips I also picked up a few other bits either online or in store, I honestly can't remember. I finally purchased the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, which is the black shade. I added another NARS duo to my collection in the shade Alhambra after seeing Zoella make it look oh so pretty on her eyes. Finally, I gave into the Becca hype and purchased Moonstone since my local Ulta was always sold out in it.

I think I'm done for a while with Sephora, which we all know is a lie because I still have a list of things in mind to pick up but I'll try and stick it out until next payday. See these are the times where I should be a Youtube to talk you all through my new stuff. Oh well, for now enjoy reading.
