Skincare Routine - September

Saturday, October 1, 2016

September is literally the month of transitions in my world. But none of those transitions have to do with the fall, we just switch into Extended Summer as I call it. The one thing that has changed this month is my skincare routine, even though I wish it was the weather. *pouts* But my skin is getting better, so much that I love doing my skincare routine at night.

I still cleanse my skin with my well loved and almost empty Kiehl's Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash. This wash lathers beautifully, and even more so with my Clarisonic Mia 2 that I've broken in, cleansing my skin of any leftover makeup, dirt, and other stuff. Unless someone recommends a different jaw-dropping cleanser to me, I plan to repurchase this once it's empty and I'm done trying to get every last bit out.

Afterwards, I go for my almost empty Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Clarity-Activating Toner. I put a bit on my hands and just work it into my skin until it feels quite dry and supple. I'm the one who loves a good toner because I feel like it's a nice boost to my skin. It helps remove any traces of dirt that are still lingering while also toning pores. I love this one as well because it targets dark spots and skin discoloration, which I've still got since I was a stupid teenager who liked to pick at her face.

Clearly you can see everything Kiehl's related is running out at once. That's probably because I bought them all around the same time so now it's time to restock. After my serum from there was done, I didn't replace it because I just wasn't completely over the moon about it anymore. I tried the Sunday Riley Sleeping Night Oil here and there, which I wanted to love so badly but it's just not for my skin type. Instead I just stare wistfully at the displays, wishing that could be me. However, I've changed my tune and acquired a serum from Caudalie, a skin care brand that's new to me and we've started a great love story already. Since my biggest skin care concern is tackling acne and the scars its left behind, the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is magic in a bottle to me. It mainly promotes an even skintone while working to fade spots and boosting radiance.

Lastly, I changed things up in the moisturizer department too. That was a harder task than any of the other products because I wanted something that was hydrating on my combination skin without leaving it with a tacky finish and not over drying. For the day time, Belief is literally the bomb with their Aqua Bomb. I love how much my skin drinks this in while keeping things lightweight on the surface. It really leaves my skin feeling soft, supple, and ready for makeup which is the most important thing to me.

At night, I picked a moisturizer that's more than just hydrating my skin. Philosophy's Clear Days Ahead is a two in one product that's part acne treatment and moisturizer. I don't know what is bundled  together in this little bottle except for Salicylic Acid but I do know my skin feels moisturized and smooth once I finish doing everything at night.

I've also tried out the Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask after cleansing my skin. I used this as more of a back up mask to help purify my skin. With the charcoal in this one, it helps reduce the appearance of pores and balance everything out. The pores on my cheeks are my biggest concern and this mask is LIFE in a jar. I might name my first child Fresh just because of what this brand has done for me.

I also tried out the Facial Radiance Intensive Peel from First Aid Beauty. First of all, ouch. Second of all, wow. Even though it left my face stinging for several minutes afterwards, I really felt like it exfoliated my skin and in the morning my face felt softer and looked better. The after affects really did hurt, but it was a peel so I wasn't surprised, but after finishing my routine after the peel, I also covered my face in Fresh's Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask to take the edge off and help repair my skin overnight as my way of apologizing for how I basically took a pumice stone to my face and peeled it all off. I love the mask though for restoring my skin overnight and giving it the extra boost I might feel like it needs.

In the eye cream department, I've been using First Aid Beauty's Eye Duty Triple Remedy AM Gel Cream in the morning (or daytime because morning to me is sometimes 11 am) and then the Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate from Fresh at night. Being 22, I really want to focus on preserving every part of my skin as early as I can before it's too late. But I also have a lot of fun using all these products and tweaking my routine every night.
