Music Favorites | January

Call this post a new regular monthly addition amongst the make up posts that usually rest cozily here. Music is just as important to me as makeup; I’m usually listening to music whilst putting on my make up, so they really do go hand and hand. A new year doesn’t necessarily mean new music (well, sometimes it does), but this year so far has definitely shown a revival of music from the past into new tunes that top the charts. Hello and goodbye January – you’ve been full of new and wonderful tunes.
Tessellate, alt-J- I’ve been enjoying quite a lot of alt-J this month. I was familiar with the band prior to purchasing their music. Finally, I listened to Tessellate and I was immediately hooked.

Torn Apart, Bastille & Grades- Dan Smith can do no wrong with any music that he produces. In VS. (Other People’s Heartaches, Pt. III), Bastille provides several tracks mixed with incredible artists – for example, HAIM makes an appearance on Bite Down. Check out the whole EP, it’s definitely worth your time.

Tuesday (feat. Drake), I LOVE MAKONNEN- I was apparently late to the party with this tune, as I usually am with popular music. I’m the one who avoids the hype and then gets into the song three weeks (or months) later when people are finally shouting at each other to turn it off. But just turn this song up anywhere and I’m ready to go up (even if it’s not Tuesday).

I Don’t Care (Payno vs Afterhrs Remix), Cheryl- Never been a fan of remixes, but this one is by far the best I’ve heard. This song, remixed partly by Liam Payne himself, is my favorite song at the moment and for the past several months. The vibe it gives off is infectious in the car, the gym, or even just in my room.

Flawless Remix (feat. Nicki Minaj), Beyoncé- Okay, here’s another remix I am absolutely loving. But it’s hard not to love this one since it’s with two of the baddest and best women currently in the music industry. This is the one to turn up at the gym, in the car, anywhere to make you feel like you did wake up looking that good. Side note – give Nicki’s new album The Pinkprint a listen through. You won’t regret it.

Hold Back the River, James Bay- First I would like to thank Burberry for inviting this incredible singer to many of their fashion shows. This talented artist sounds like a mix between Passenger and Hozier, if not better. March can’t come quick enough for his album release.

Two albums/EPs I’m loving as well are from the former mentioned Hozier and another Brit, Ella Eyre. Hozier is so much more beyond the popular ‘Take Me to Church.” His album has quite a few tracks that I can’t stop playing whenever I can. Another new favorite in my library is Ella Eyre, the pint sized, wild haired beaut from across the pond. Her voice shows off her talents beautifully and makes me want to dance and burn down my ex-boyfriend’s house. I don’t even have an ex-boyfriend. That’s how good it is.
