September Birchbox

The blog is back! After a crazy week of packing, moving, and everything in-between the blog has returned and there's much planned for it. September was the anniversary month of Birchbox and the boxes that went out were a little more special than usual. Every Birchbox subscriber received one of three uniquely designed boxes, I received a light blue, white, dark blue, and magnet geometric patterned box which I loved. Inside were the normal five samples but also a bonus sample…which is still my current favorite thing…
Acure Organics Day Cream Gotu Kola Stem Cell + 1% CGF- The only skin care item that made it into my September Birchbox. It instructs to use this cream after toning so it can properly moisturize to firm and protect skin. I used Clinique’s toner before applying this day cream. Upon rubbing it on my face, it made me think of oranges. It smells a lot like a citrus fruit and rubs in with a very creamy texture. I wasn’t crazy impressed with this cream but it did keep my skin moisturized and supple.

Dear Clark Resurrecting Wash & Rinse- A shampoo and conditioner handmade in Texas (I love an American-made product) meant to help resurrect and repair hair since many products today can tear apart and weigh down strands. With my fine thin/thick hair, I don’t use much product on it. Its purpose is to soften and moisturize hair and works even on keratin- and color-treated hair as well.  I only used the shampoo mostly since I was supposed to leave the conditioner in for 5-10 minutes and I just don’t have that time. It smells super minty; I could smell it for the rest of the day over anything. I can’t see myself purchasing the full size of these products in the future but will be glad to use up my samples.

Dr. Jart+ Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet Mask- Charcoal is definitely one of my favorite acne/skin spot fighter ingredients to find in products. I was excited to try this sheet mask out and see how it worked on my skin. It is a mask with eye, mouth, and nose holes so it literally sits on your skin. I let it sit on my skin and afterwards my skin felt softer and cleaner. I didn’t see a big difference in my pores but I think if I were to buy the pack of 5 that can be purchased on Birchbox’s website, I may see a difference over time.

Temptu S/B Highlighter in Champagne Shimmer- Highlighters are quickly becoming my pick to check out at make up counters. I love the subtle glow they can add to my makeup as it can take really simple makeup one step further. This liquid formula has a pink-peach glow that is perfect for skin in the summer or upcoming winter months. You only need about chocolate chip size to dab on your cheek bones. I applied it along my cheek bones with my fingertips and blended it up towards my temples. The result was a really natural glow with my foundation and I would definitely use it again. Birchbox says you can use this anywhere on your face but I prefer to keep it to my cheek area. I was really pleased with the formula and look it gave me throughout the day.

Chapstick Hydration Lock Day/Night Chapstick- This was a bonus addition to September Birchboxes and it’s my favorite thing at the moment. I know a tube of Chapstick sounds like nothing fancy- I can buy it at Walgreens, who cares? This one is not like the others on the market. It features a double-sided product, one made for Daytime and the other end for Nighttime. The daytime end has wonderful moisturizing qualities and smells really nice, not at all like a standard plain chapstick. I use it throughout the day whether it be going to work, running errands, or just writing blog posts at home. The night stick end is just as amazing and smells wonderful. I applied it right before I went to bed and when I woke up, my lips felt like I had just applied the chapstick. I imagine I will probably steal my mother’s when I run out because she received one and wasn’t as excited as I was.
